TOWSON, Md. (CNS) -- The widow of a former National Football League coach and general manager has pledged a gift of $2 million to a Christian Brothers-run high school in Towson. The gift from Mary Love Young, wife of the late George B. Young, will be used to build a new four-story academic building at Calvert Hall College High School and to enhance the school's endowment fund for tuition assistance. Christian Brother Kevin Stanton, Calvert Hall president, said Young, a 1948 graduate of Calvert Hall, "had an outstanding reputation for his teaching and coaching skills and also as a man of integrity and loyalty and faith." "Naming our building after him is a wonderful way to celebrate the values he lived for," Brother Kevin added. "It's a source of inspiration for a new generation of Calvert Hall students." An honor student and standout football player in his high school days, Young received a football scholarship to Bucknell University where, as a senior, he was selected to the All-East team and named a Little All-American.
