Georgetown receives grant for Catholicism and civic renewal project
Published: 2004-05-20
WASHINGTON (CNS) -- The Woodstock Theological Center at Georgetown University in Washington has received $225,000 from the Henry Luce Foundation to fund its new project on Catholicism and civic renewal. The three-year grant "will help Woodstock examine the ways the Catholic Church plays a role in American public life," said John Farina, director of the program and a senior fellow at Woodstock. "Studying issues such as school vouchers, funding of faith-based social programs and Catholic identity can help us better understand the church's place in American civic, political and cultural forums," he said in a statement.
