Vatican's foreign minister to meet with British counterpart
Published: 2004-05-10
VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- The Vatican's foreign minister, Archbishop Giovanni Lajolo, planned an official visit to London to meet with his British counterpart, Jack Straw. In announcing the archbishop's May 11-13 visit, the Vatican did not provide details about the topic of meetings, although it was likely that ongoing tensions in Iraq would top the agenda. The Vatican said Archbishop Lajolo also would visit the House of Commons and the House of Lords and would meet with Gordon Brown, chancellor of the exchequer, Britain's senior finance minister.
