TRENTON, N.J. (CNS) -- Catholic lawyers, public officials and judges are "called to be diligent in the service of justice in this great state of New Jersey and in our republic," said the homilist at the second annual Trenton diocesan Red Mass April 28. Those in the legal profession must be mindful of the qualities of St. Thomas More -- diligence, integrity and faith in God -- "as they strive to respond to God's call" in their work, said Father Thomas Mullelly. The priest is diocesan secretary for social justice and social services and chaplain at Aquinas Institute in Princeton. Trenton Bishop John M. Smith was principal celebrant of the Mass at St. Joachim Church. It was hosted by the diocese's St. Thomas More Society, which operates under the auspices of the diocesan Office of Family Life/Respect Life.
