Byzantine bishop to conduct pilgrimages in each parish of eparchy

Published: 2004-05-03

PARMA, Ohio (CNS) -- To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Parma, Bishop John M. Kudrick is leading a pilgrimage to the 37 parishes of the eparchy this year. The first pilgrimage took place April 25 at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Parma. In his remarks during the pilgrimage, Bishop Kudrick said, "We are certainly more than just ourselves; we are more than just our families; we are more than just our parish; we're more than our eparchy. We are a universal body of Christ. And sometimes it's important for us to pick up from our comfort and move to somewhere else to experience this body of Christ." The eparchy has parishes in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota and Missouri. But its geographic spread takes in Ohio, except the eastern border counties of the state, as well as Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.
