STAMFORD, Conn. (CNS) -- St. Thomas More was "a man of great faith, of great integrity, of great intelligence, of great courage," Archbishop Sean P. O'Malley of Boston said April 25. "You are the Catholic jurists in the tradition of St. Thomas More," the archbishop told members of the legal profession in his homily at the annual Red Mass in the Diocese of Bridgeport. "The church needs you. The country needs you. The world needs you." The Red Mass is celebrated for lawyers, judges and other legal professionals. The archbishop was the principal celebrant of the liturgy at St. John the Evangelist Church in Stamford. Bridgeport Bishop William E. Lori and Ukrainian Bishop Basil H. Losten of Stamford were concelebrants. In his homily, the archbishop talked about the lessons that could be drawn from the day's Gospel and other readings on the encounters the scattered disciples had with the risen Christ.
