'Good leadership leads the way to God,' speaker tells convocation

INDIANAPOLIS (CNS) -- "Good leadership leads the way to God," Alex Jones told the National Black Catholic Convocation in Indianapolis April 19. "It leads those who may not want to go where they need to go." Jones, a Pentecostal preacher who became a Catholic, certainly knows about that kind of leadership. After he founded and led Maranatha Christian Church, he began to be attracted to the Catholic faith. After a two-year journey, he joined the church -- and took 54 members of his congregation with him. Jones is currently pursuing a master's degree in pastoral studies at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. He works for the Archdiocese of Detroit as associate director of an inner-city evangelization project. He is married and has three children and seven grandchildren. Jones said he also knows about the mistakes that leaders can make. And he knows that he is not a perfect leader -- only Jesus is the perfect leader.
