My Friend magazine devotes May issue to media literacy
Published: 2004-04-20
BOSTON (CNS) -- My Friend, a Catholic magazine for children, is devoting its May issue to media literacy. With book and movie reviews, articles and activities, the magazine aims to integrate media literacy across the religious education curriculum for ages 7-12. One suggested project gives readers 21 activities to help them figure out how much time they spend each week "doing" media, including sending and receiving e-mail, as contrasted with the rest of their daily lives. Readers are then asked to share the chart with their parents and to prioritize their activities as a family. My Friend, now in its 25th year, is published in Boston by Pauline Books & Media, an apostolate of the Daughters of St. Paul. The magazine's Web address is: www.myfriendmagazine.com.
