Girls club takes on challenge of combining faith, fun and good works

Published: 2004-04-07

ST. LOUIS (CNS) -- Combining fun, faith and good works can be hard, but some St. Louis girls are up to the challenge. The Challenge girls club, that is. Challenge is an international organization for girls ages 10 to 16, under the direction of the Legionaries of Christ. The club, part of the Catholic Youth World Network, asks girls to "Challenge Yourself, Challenge Others, Challenge the World." "This is about forming the hearts of these girls," said Patty Kozarits, president of the Challenge club in St. Louis, which is now in its third year and has about 65 members. Challenge members attend weekly meetings and take part in a variety of activities and projects. At the high school level, any interested girls can take part in some of the service projects, such as "Angel for a Day," in which teenage girls take a younger group of children out for a day of fun activities.
