Apologetics column debuts in Nebraska Catholic newspaper
Published: 2004-02-26
LINCOLN, Neb. (CNS) -- A new, nationally syndicated column on Scriptural apologetics debuted mid-February in the Southern Nebraska Register, newspaper of the Lincoln Diocese. The weekly feature, written by well-known Catholic apologist Patrick Madrid, is called, "Where Is That in the Bible?" The name of the column is the same as the title of his best-selling book published by Our Sunday Visitor Press. One of Madrid's popular parish seminars, also known by the same title, aims to help lay Catholics understand how to more effectively share and explain their faith with Christians who do not necessarily agree with Catholic teaching. Apologetics is the systematic defense of the Catholic religion. The word "apologetics" comes from the Greek "apologia," which means to create a defense.
