ST. FRANCIS, Wis. (CNS) -- A special graduation ceremony held at St. Ann Center for intergenerational care Feb. 4 marked the completion of an adaptive computer course for 24 adults with severe cognitive and physical disabilities. The event also celebrated the center's continuing role of empowering adults who have special needs. "Many people are unaware of the benefits that this type of program can offer," said Sister Edna Lonergan, a Sister of St. Francis of Assisi who is president of St. Ann Center. "It is so exciting to see the joy on the face of someone who cannot talk or that has restricted physical movement," she added. "They can use these specialized computers to gain access to the Internet as well as e-mail. It can open up a world of possibility for those who have felt very alone and isolated."
