Paul Thigpen named editor of The Catholic Answer magazine

Published: 2004-02-12

HUNTINGTON, Ind. (CNS) -- Catholic author Paul Thigpen has been appointed editor of The Catholic Answer, a bimonthly publication of Our Sunday Visitor Publishing. An announcement by Greg Erlandson, publisher and president of Our Sunday Visitor Publishing, said Thigpen would oversee a new design and editorial lineup to be introduced with the magazine's May-June issue. "Paul is a best-selling author, an award-winning journalist and, most importantly, someone who truly understands the hunger that Catholics have to hear the Catholic answer presented with clarity and reliability," Erlandson said. Thigpen, who has published 30 books and more than 500 magazine and journal articles, succeeds Father Peter M.J. Stravinskas, who has edited the magazine since its founding in 1987. Writers and columnists for the new full-sized magazine format will include Father Ray Ryland, adjunct professor of theology at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio; Father Francis Hoffman, chaplain of the Northridge Preparatory School in Niles, Ill.; and Marcus Grodi, host of the EWTN series "The Journey Home."
