
Terry Brock, Catholic editor in 1960s and '70s, dies at 71

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (CNS) -- A memorial service was scheduled for Jan. 31 at Mount Moriah & Freeman Chapel in Kansas City for Terry Brock, who held a variety of Catholic press editorial posts in the 1960s and '70s before launching a career in community news. Brock, who died Jan. 28, retired in 1998 as president of Northeast Publishing Inc., which included Northeast News weekly newspaper and Northeast Typography, a typesetting and graphic design company. He was 71. Brock served as an assistant editor at Ave Maria magazine; promotion director of the Thomas More Association in Chicago; editor and general manager of the Pittsburgh Catholic, diocesan newspaper in Pittsburgh; and managing editor, and later executive editor, of National Catholic Reporter, a national Catholic newspaper based in Kansas City.
