
Pope names Cardinal George to Pontifical Council for Culture

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- Pope John Paul II has named Cardinal Francis E. George of Chicago a member of the Pontifical Council for Culture, an office created by the pope in 1982 to promote the influence of faith in culture and a dialogue with modern culture. Also named a member of the council Jan. 24 was Cardinal Lubomyr Husar of Lviv, the head of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, as well as cardinals from the Republic of Congo, Italy, Tanzania and Chile.
