Campaign gives voice to women with lingering effects from abortions
Published: 2004-01-23
WASHINGTON (CNS) -- A new campaign by abortion opponents is giving voice to women who want to prevent other women from suffering the emotional, physical and psychological effects they say were a result of their own abortions. "Operation Outcry: Silent No More" brought a handful of women to Washington for the anniversary of the 1973 Roe vs. Wade ruling, where they talked about the effects on their own lives of having abortions. Joyce Zounis of Colorado was among women speaking at the National Press Club. She told of having seven abortions in 11 years beginning at age 15. "Not once was I told of the physical risks I would suffer later," she said, listing ovarian cysts, a difficult pregnancy due to physical damage from the abortions, fear of breast cancer and emotional damage.
