Toledo Diocese unveils fresh presentation on priesthood

Published: 2004-01-02

TOLEDO, Ohio (CNS) -- So that the crushing noise of the world doesn't drown out the small still voice, the call to serve the Lord as a priest is about to be amplified in the Toledo Diocese. Vocations director Father David Nuss and assistant director Notre Dame Sister Marilyn Marie Ellerbrock met over more than 10 months with a group of marketing professionals to help present the vocations message with power. "I realized we needed a comprehensive strategy and we needed help getting there," Father Nuss said. "I've seen some generic messages by other dioceses," he added. "The one-size-fits-all message lacks power. We needed to identify what drives those men and women who want to live this life of service." Graphic artist Joe Pinciotti, who created the visuals, said, "Our ultimate goal was to put a contemporary and positive spin on vocations. We targeted a younger generation -- a generation that has grown up with MTV and the Internet. We captured that by using inspiring and contemporary colors with a clever play on words that makes you look and think twice about the message."
