Poor Clares launch radio ministry in Diocese of Spokane
Published: 2003-12-30
SPOKANE, Wash. (CNS) -- The Poor Clares' monastery in Spokane looks much the same on the outside as it always has -- solid, sturdy, even peaceful. Inside, though, it's become a powerhouse of activity and excitement. The reason? "The Northwest Catholic Hour," the Poor Clares' new radio ministry. The weekly radio hour debuted in Spokane this fall. Sister Patricia Proctor, a member of the cloistered community, has been the spark behind the program. Initially, she had hoped to establish Spokane's first Catholic radio station. Now, she sometimes wonders if even an hour of programming each week might be too much. Exactly when she shifted gears from "Catholic radio station" to "Catholic programming" she can't say. But she is sure of one thing: The Holy Spirit "is the driving force" behind it all.
