Entries solicited for 2004 Eileen Egan Journalism Awards
Published: 2003-12-15
BALTIMORE (CNS) -- Catholic Relief Services is accepting entries for the annual Eileen Egan Journalism Awards, designed to honor stories in Catholic publications on issues of concern to the developing world. Entries will be judged on how well they exemplify the CRS mission of educating Americans on humanitarian issues, promoting the work of others to alleviate human suffering or advocating social justice in developing countries. Recipients of the awards will receive a trip overseas to tour various CRS project sites. Winners in three categories -- Catholic publications under 35,000 circulation, Catholic publications over 35,000 circulation and national publications -- will be announced in May at the annual Catholic Press Association convention in Washington. Deadline for entries is Feb. 20. Submissions will be accepted from CPA-member or diocesan publications that were published in 2003.
