Catholic colleges celebrate first National Catholic Colleges Week
Published: 2003-12-01
WASHINGTON (CNS) -- Catholic colleges across the country were marking the first National Catholic Colleges Week Dec. 1-6 with special events, panel discussions or simply in news releases about why students choose to attend their schools. "The idea is to draw attention to the positive aspects of Catholic higher education," said Michael James, associate executive director of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities, the group that is co-sponsoring the event, along with the National Catholic College Admissions Association. James said the national week, expected to be an annual observance, will give the approximately 220 Catholic colleges in the United States a framework to promote what it is about their Catholic identity that makes them distinct.
