WASHINGTON (CNS) -- Following two visits to Vietnam by delegations of U.S. bishops, in 1989 and 1999, a delegation of Vietnamese bishops visited the U.S. bishops' fall general meeting in Washington Nov. 10. The Vietnamese bishops were expected to stay for most of the meeting, which was scheduled to run through Nov. 13. In brief remarks to the U.S. bishops on the opening day of their meeting, Bishop Paul Nguyen Van Hoa of Nha Trang, Vietnam, president of the Vietnamese bishops' conference, said that he and his Vietnamese colleagues "come here today to express these bonds of communion and sharing. ... We are deeply moved by your concern and generosity."
