WASHINGTON (CNS) -- Support Our Aging Religious, a lay-led campaign to raise funds for retired religious, presented its first award for national service to FADICA at an Oct. 25 dinner in Washington. The first St. Katharine Drexel Award, named for the religious philanthropist who gave her entire life and her fortune in service to others, went to the consortium of Foundations and Donors Interested in Catholic Activities "in recognition of FADICA's leading role in focusing attention and resources on the crisis facing America's aging and infirm religious," SOAR said in a press release. Honored with SOAR's St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award was Jesuit Father William J. Byron, acting president of Loyola University of New Orleans. More than 500 people attended the 17th annual awards dinner, held at the Omni-Shoreham Hotel in Washington.
