
Cone named editor of Pittsburgh Catholic

PITTSBURGH (CNS) -- William Cone, a veteran editor in the Catholic and secular press, has been named editor of the Pittsburgh Catholic, newspaper of the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Cone comes to the Pittsburgh Catholic after five years as editor of Today's Catholic, newspaper of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend in Indiana. Under his editorship, Today's Catholic won numerous awards from the Catholic Press Association, including the 2003 general excellence award for newspapers with circulation of 17,001 to 40,000. Cone began with the Pittsburgh Catholic in mid-October. "Bill Cone is an experienced editor with a solid journalistic resume and a deep commitment to the church and the Catholic press," said Robert Lockwood, Pittsburgh Catholic general manager. "With Bill at the editorial helm, the Pittsburgh Catholic will continue to improve as a vibrant Catholic community newspaper for the Diocese of Pittsburgh."
