Bishops to ask young adults to pitch in for church
Published: 2003-10-24
WASHINGTON (CNS) -- When they meet in November the U.S. bishops will be asked to vote on a brochure urging young adult Catholics to "share their gifts -- time, talents and treasures" -- with the church and the community around them. It points out, however, that stewardship "is not simply making donations or taking care of the building and grounds. It is a lifestyle" of being grateful to God and sharing with others. If approved, the brochure is to be widely distributed in churches and other places where it can reach young adults. The bishops' Ad Hoc Committee on Stewardship oversaw the drafting of the brochure, which was written in consultation with the staff of the National Catholic Young Adult Ministry Association.
