Published: 2003-10-17
NEW YORK (CNS) -- Observance of the second annual "Pope Day" in New York Oct. 16, the 25th anniversary of the election of Pope John Paul II, concluded with a Mass at Our Saviour Church and an address on papal teaching. The event was sponsored by the Love and Responsibility Foundation, an agency named by its founders after the title of a book they had studied that was published by the pope in 1960 when he was still a bishop in Poland. Peter McFadden, foundation president, said the organization had received information about activities related to this year's "Pope Day" taking place in 40 cities and seven other countries -- Australia, Canada, Kenya, Mexico, Poland, Trinidad and Saudi Arabia. A foundation Web site -- www.catholicculture.com -- reported a variety of worship services and programs organized by groups in the different cities.
