CAMDEN, N.J. (CNS) -- Msgr. Thomas J. Morgan, vicar general and moderator of the curia in the Diocese of Camden, has been appointed apostolic administrator of the diocese by Pope John Paul II. The appointment -- effective Oct. 3, the day Bishop Nicholas A. DiMarzio, formerly of Camden, was installed as bishop of Brooklyn, N.Y. -- was announced in an Oct. 2 letter from Archbishop Gabriel Montalvo, apostolic nuncio to the United States. Msgr. Morgan, 61, also is pastor of St. Thomas More Parish in Cherry Hill. He was episcopal vicar for priestly life and development from 2001 until this March and pastor of Christ the King Parish in Haddonfield in 1996-2001. "I am surprised and humbled that the Holy Father has appointed me as the apostolic administrator of the Diocese of Camden," he said in a statement. "I don't understand God's plan and yet it is with a sense of joy and an eagerness to serve that I accept this role."
