Conference on Christians in Hollywood set for Oct. 23-24
Published: 2003-10-02
LOS ANGELES (CNS) -- Faith-driven screenwriters, filmmakers and executives will share their experiences as Christians working in Hollywood at a two-day conference Oct. 23-24 in Hollywood. Held in conjunction with the Oct. 23-26 City of the Angels Film Festival, the conference on "Mere Entertainment: Theory Meets Practice" is sponsored by Act One: Writing for Hollywood and Reel Spirituality. Organizers say the conference will provide an opportunity for Christian academics, pastors and aspiring filmmakers to engage industry practitioners and learn more about the professional realities that one encounters in Hollywood. One goal of the conference is to draft a credo for future filmmakers, which organizers defined as "a positive statement to which Christian students could assent, articulating how to use the medium of cinema to create enduring works of beauty."
