Sophia Academy students serve at Senior Connections

Published May 28, 2015

ATLANTA—Sophia Academy middle school recently volunteered at Senior Connections in Chamblee. Senior Connections, a nonprofit organization, provides home and community-based care to promote independence for seniors.

Students helped with its Meals On Wheels, which provides food to housebound seniors. They serve more than 2,500 meals daily. Sophia Academy middle school students learned about the nutritional components of the meals as they did preparation work.

This project is part of the service hours all middle school students must fulfill. “Serving with humility” is an important mission of the school, an independent Catholic school sponsored by the Marists.
