ATLANTA—Parishioners and students at Immaculate Heart of Mary School can better enjoy the garden on the campus, thanks to the efforts of a Boy Scout.

Joshua Forbes, 16, received his Eagle Scout award in a Court of Honor ceremony Aug. 17, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. He is a member of Troop 550 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and school and Troop 322 in Exeter, New Hampshire. He joined Troop 550 as a Boy Scout in sixth grade. The accomplished scout attends Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter. There he is sports editor, on the board of directors for the radio station, DJ, student council representative, environmental proctor, and member of the rowing team.

Forbes joined the two troops so he could remain active as a Boy Scout at school and at home. For his project, Joshua built four benches for Immaculate Heart of Mary School for their garden and playground areas. He also landscaped and planted shrubbery for beautification purposes. He assisted with Troop 322 by remodeling the interior of an abandoned trailer and repainted the exterior for troop use in transporting gear on camping trips.

He is the son of John and Cecilia Forbes, members of Holy Cross Church, Atlanta.
