Marietta Knights give to diaper drive for military families

Published May 29, 2014

The Knights of Columbus Council 8376 from the Church of St. Ann, Marietta, recently bought $300 of disposable diapers for needy military families in Georgia.

According to the council treasurer, Bob Davis, United Military Care, a voluntary organization in Marietta that serves Georgia military families in need, held a special diaper drive in March.

A group of Knights used proceeds from its Lenten fish dinners to deliver 12 cases of diapers to United Military Care, which will distribute them to military families.

“Two key principles of the Knights of Columbus are charity and patriotism. This project was a natural charity for us to support. We believe that this cause was an ideal way to express a gift of charity by reaching out to fellow Georgians, and, at the same time, to exhibit our patriotic support of our military.”

Our Lady of La Salette Council 8376, established in 1983 at St. Ann Church, is one of the largest councils in the Southeast.
