The Optimist Club of Peachtree City selected Our Lady of Mercy High School senior Shelby Reames to be honored at its annual Youth Appreciation Banquet. This banquet recognizes Peachtree City/Fayette County youth for their contributions to the community through their talents and achievements in the arts, athletics and academics.

Reames is considered a well-rounded Mercy student, academically successful and active in the school community. She is a leader both in the classroom and on the volleyball court. As captain of the varsity team, according to her coach, Shelby gives the team a lot of spirit and pushes the team to work hard, be committed, and always uphold the highest level of sportsmanship.

She is also an active participant in the Fayetteville high school’s pro-life group. She has traveled together with other group members for Respect Life activities in Washington, D.C., and has also represented the group on the local level.
