Holy Redeemer School backs Hunger Walk

Published March 20, 2014

Many Catholic organizations participated in the 2014 Hunger Walk/Run to benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

The event on Sunday, March 9, raised some $474,200 to support charities, including the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

Among the top teams participating was Holy Redeemer School, in Johns Creek. Members of the school raised $4,677 to fight hunger in the community.

According to the event website, poverty is a daily existence for some 1.8 million Georgians. That is equal to filling Turner Field, where the walk was held, 36 times. A contribution of $5 can supply 20 meals for the hungry.
