Family Day to benefit Rockdale, Newton program

A family day planned in Conyers for Saturday, July 27, will benefit the Family Promise of New Rock program.

The event is free and will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Stone Mountain Harley-Davidson, 900 Dogwood Drive, Conyers. Among the planned activities are inflatables and water slides for children, food and drinks, and music by the Discover Point Church Worship Band and Chris McDaniel, formerly of Confederate Railroad.

The Family Promise Ride will begin at 9 a.m. with registration, 10:30 a.m. kickstands up. Cost for the ride is $20 per bike and $25 with rider.

Family Promise of New Rock helps to alleviate homelessness affecting children in Rockdale and Newton counties.  Houses of worship, including St. Pius X Church in Conyers, offer facilities for overnight lodging and meals, while volunteers provide fellowship and support to guest families.
