Hapeville Parish To Offer Seminars On End Of Life

St. John the Evangelist Church will hold a series of seminars, “Planning for the Future,” on legal, liturgical and pastoral topics for those dealing with end-of-life issues. Topics will include legal and medical documentation, aging, senior and hospice care, wake services and funeral planning, funeral homes, cemetery arrangements and cremation. The seminars will be held on May 6, 13 and 27, from 7-9 p.m. (No session on May 20.) All are welcome to attend.

On Thursday, May 6, the topics covered will be grief ministry, bereavement and hospice care for the terminally ill, presented by Ken Rose of Gentiva Healthfield Hospice, Riverdale. Father Edward Thein, pastor of St. John the Evangelist, will speak on Catholic liturgical considerations, funerals, wakes, cremation and burial.

On Thursday, May 13, Iggy Gomez, of Home Instead Senior Care, will present information about home health care and aging. Jeff Colquitt of Donehoo Lewis Funeral Home will provide information about working with the funeral home.

On Thursday, May 27, Joann King, of Arlington Cemetery, will present information about working with the cemetery. Attorney Charles B. Pyke, Jr. will talk about legal considerations, living wills, powers of attorney, wills and medical considerations.

St. John the Evangelist Church is located at 230 Arnold St., Hapeville.
