IHM School Receives $1 Million Bequest

Published March 18, 2010

Immaculate Heart of Mary School has announced an anonymous donation of $1 million from an alumnus to the school’s endowment fund in the form of a charitable remainder trust.

IHM’s principal, Tricia DeWitt, said, “Building our endowment fund, which was established in 1990, became a priority for us last year as we celebrated our parish and school’s 50th anniversary.”

The endowment fund was established to help the school expand its academic leadership while maintaining cultural diversity. To attract qualified, talented and diverse students, needs-based scholarships and financial aid will be distributed from the endowment, which will also help the school acquire educational resources and provide professional development opportunities and education for teachers.

IHM School, located at 2855 Briarcliff Road, NE, was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education in 2009.
