Student Athletes Sign With Colleges

Kate Willingham, a senior at Marist School, signed her National Letter of Intent to play soccer for Sewanee University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn. Willingham, who is captain of the soccer team, has received a President’s Scholarship to Sewanee and is a member of both the National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society.

Marist School seniors Gary Marshall and Preston Lyons, have both signed their National Letter of Intent to play football for Colgate University, Hamilton, N.Y. Marshall was named First Team All-State Quarterback and All-Region Quarterback. Lyons was also named First Team All-State Offense/Running Back. He will leave Marist holding the school records for career rushing yards (3,707) and touchdowns (61).

Our Lady of Mercy High School senior Wesley Yates will play golf for Florida A&M University, Tallahassee, Fla., next year. Yates is a four-year member of Mercy’s golf team, and this year he is the team’s captain.
