Hartwell Parish Breaks Ground For New Parish Hall

Published September 21, 2006

Sacred Heart Church in Hartwell broke ground on Sunday, Aug. 6, for the construction of a new parish hall, the first phase of an expansion program for the church. The slogan of the campaign is “Together We Can.” Pledges from parishioners and visitors and fundraising activities by many of the church ministries funded this effort.

Father Terry Kane, pastor, led the congregation from the church to the building site. After a welcome by Deacon Jerry Korte, people who helped get the church this far in the project were recognized and thanked, and Father

Kane offered a prayer. A member of each of the 25 parish ministries had decorated a shovel to portray their particular ministry and help break ground for the project.

The ceremony concluded with a blessing of the building site. A reception, hosted by the parish women’s club, followed in the current parish hall.
