Continuous Prayer: Parish Adoration Chapels

The growth of adoration chapels has continued ever since the first chapel opened in June 1994 at the Cathedral of Christ the King at the request of Archbishop John F. Donoghue. Six parishes have chapels open 24 hours a day every day. Two more parishes have adoration chapels where exposition takes place most of the week, including overnight. About 70 parishes have exposition of the Eucharist daily, weekly or monthly. Shown are 11 of the parish chapels and the year each opened. The newest chapel opened at St. Luke in Dahlonega in November with 40 hours of adoration weekly. Perpetual adoration chapels are: Cathedral of Christ the King; Transfiguration; St. Catherine of Siena; St. Marguerite d’Youville; St. Thomas More; and St. Joseph, Marietta. At St. Peter Chanel adoration is perpetual except for 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday. St. Brigid has exposition beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday until repose of the Blessed Sacrament at 9 a.m. Saturday. Corpus Christi chapel has adoration Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m., and St. Matthew, Winder, has adoration from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.
