Catholic Day At Capitol Set For Feb. 8

ATLANTA—Catholics are invited to attend the fifth annual Catholic Day at the Capitol to learn about the legislative process and key issues. Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory is scheduled to attend the event, to be held on Tuesday, Feb. 8. The Archdiocese of Atlanta and Diocese of Savannah invite Georgia Catholics to the Capitol to exercise their baptismal call as advocates for public policy that protects those who are vulnerable and promotes the common good.
Catholic Day will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Atlanta, with a briefing about important legislative priorities for the Georgia Catholic Conference, the public policy arm of the statewide church. The Shrine is located at 48 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Atlanta.
Attendees will then make their way to the statehouse to view the opening session of the legislature. Participants will have an opportunity to meet their lawmakers and discuss the priorities.
Those attending will need to make their own arrangements for lunch. The first 50 to register will have the opportunity to take a tour of the statehouse at 1 p.m.
The event is free, but registration is required so last-minute changes can be communicated.
