I enjoyed the article on how Atlanta’s Irish priests have shaped the Archdiocese. Good article—however, it would have been a bit better to mention by name the “Some 25 Priests From Ireland (who) Serve Local Churches.” I can’t speak about the other 24, but I can proudly tell you about our pastor at St. James the Apostle in McDonough, Father John M. Murphy. He has been our pastor since 2005 and has been an inspiration and example to our parish family. Despite personal health issues he has had to deal with, he has never complained nor ever neglected any of his many duties as a priest.
In this Year of the Priest as proclaimed by our Holy Father, we wish to publicly thank our pastor, Father John, for all he and all the other 24 Irish priests have done for us. I’m sure there is not one among us who have not been inspired by one of them during the many selfless years they have ministered to us.
God’s continued blessings be upon them and all our wonderful priests.
