To the Editor:
Thanks to the article in The Georgia Bulletin (Oct. 29) about the hardship some of our parishioners were having at St. John Vianney due to the 100-year flood in September, we have received donations from all over the Archdiocese to help. These flood victims are still facing much hardship trying to get their lives back together and a place to live. The donations were sent to our St. Vincent de Paul conference to assist the conference in helping the victims. With these donations, on Saturday, Dec. 19, our conference had a party for the victims and was able to give to the parents of each of the 23 children a gift certificate to buy some Christmas items for them.
Our Spanish circle of the Council of Catholic Women helped one family with their Christmas needs and our Knights of Columbus were able to help two families. Our SJV Council of Catholic Women will be having a baby shower for one couple that is expecting a new baby in March.
Our own Catholic Charities organization came out and assisted many families in the Austell area with monetary assistance. This is just one example of your donations on the second collection at Christmas being put to good use.
On behalf of all the flood victims, we say a BIG THANK YOU!
