Adults and school children responded to a request from The Georgia Bulletin and sent in their thoughts on the season of Advent.
Prayerfully we prepare, anxiously we await, celestially we celebrate!
Lord, we thank you for all that we hold in our hearts. We, who are worried about so much, look forward to your coming and the joy of your kingdom that will fill us.
Advent is a time that allows my wife and I to truly focus on the meaning of Christmas: the birth of our Lord Jesus. We do not allow the material things to distract our quiet time of prayer.
The following Ad(+)Vents were sent in by Catholic school students around the Archdiocese of Atlanta.
God is the lone light on the dark night road.
God will never abandon you, no matter what you do.
God is our skin and will always be wrapped around us.
Since God is with each and every one of us, there is good in everyone.
The smallest belief in God can move the biggest mountain.
God is like armor. He protects you when you most need it.
God is like the ocean: always there, everlasting, beautiful and calming.
God is all healing and powerful. Even when we are in doubt or trouble, God is there with a helping hand.
God sees everything including what is in your heart.
What’s the point of doing anything if we don’t do it for God, who strengthens us?
God is like the sun. He is always shining His love on us and showing us the way.
Our life with God is never ending, just like His love for us.
No matter what we are going through, God will give us the heart of a lion and the grace of a butterfly. He will always be with us.
Even when your world is crashing down, God will help you build it back up.
God’s love is like a lighthouse; even through the darkest days and most violent storms, it always shines through.
My faith is what makes Christmas so special, and when I can celebrate it everywhere I know I am blessed. Christmas is about counting your blessings and knowing you are loved.
God is like Christmas decorations at Thanksgiving – he’s always there!
God is like bread crumbs in a meatball – always holding us together.
The perfect gift doesn’t come in a package – it comes from the heart.
Faith is like a roller coaster: It has its ups and downs, but it’s always an awesome ride!
God is like a textbook: It’s always there, willing to help, but first you have to decide to use it.
God is like a blanket that covers the Earth, keeping it warm, and protecting it from harm.
Presents are at the bottom of the tree because they are the least important later in life.
The star is at the top because it shows the true meaning of Christmas that will never be forgotten.
Faith is like an iPod: Even if it fades for a while, you can always recharge it.
The best kind of a present is the one you have given.
God never stops loving, like the Earth never stops spinning.
Advent is like a firework, with a bright burst at the end!
Life is like an open book test because God gives us all the answers we need.
A Bible is like a Christmas present you can open over and over again!
Our faith is like a butterfly: it starts out small, but then it becomes big and beautiful.
