To the Editor:
It is heartwarming to see the recent articles concerning GRACE Scholars. GRACE has the potential to significantly impact the affordability of Catholic education. You simply take a portion of what you are already required to pay in Georgia tax and redirect it into GRACE Scholars, Inc., a scholarship fund for students entering Catholic schools in Georgia. You get a 100 percent dollar for dollar tax credit! In other words, the money you redirect comes back to you dollar for dollar in the form of a 100 percent tax credit or refund when you do your taxes. It is that simple.
GRACE is a win-win situation for all involved. Taxpayers get a say in where their tax dollars go and receive a 100 percent dollar for dollar tax credit; parents get a choice in their children’s education; and most of all, students benefit from a faith-filled, academically challenging Catholic education!
I often speak to parents who desire a Catholic education for their children; however, they cannot afford it. Receiving a Catholic school education is a life-changing experience that transforms minds, hearts and souls.
