Gabriella Furgiuele, 15, St. Patrick Church, Norcross.
“Most of the Christian songs are either pop or rock. I love hip hop, and it is really hard to find a good hip hop song, so having a Christian hip hop artist is amazing!”
“I also went to the healing service and it was really inspiring the see people get healed. It was cool to be prayed over and to see people be prayed over and to see the look of peace on their faces was amazing.”
McKenzie Williams, 14
“It is really cool that we gather as one and profess our faith together.”
“I like how (the Mass) covers the ‘bigger picture’ and how the speaker addresses the congress about the point of why we come here.”
Andrea Marin, 14, is a parishioner at Prince of Peace Church in Flowery Branch. She volunteered to participate in a skit for the Kids Track at the Congress.
When asked about why she chose to volunteer at the Congress, she said, “I hope to leave having the feeling of having helped out.”
Nick McElroy, college student and parishioner at Mary Our Queen Church, Norcross. He came to the Congress in hope of strengthening his faith.
“I haven’t been to church in awhile. I’m coming with an open mind. I’m also here to see friends and experience this with them.”
Nick Pienta, 17, St. Michael the Archangel Church, Woodstock
“I’ve been here before, it’s my third time. … It’s an awesome place to come to be with everyone, family and friends. I’m looking forward to the Teen Track and I’m waiting to see what God brings to me.”
J.P. McKenzie, 17, St. Brigid Church, Johns Creek
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see so many people gather with Christ here. I held the banner in the procession for my school. … I am looking forward to seeing Oscar Rivera because he is supposed to ‘tear up’ the hip hop world.”
Abigail Bois and Caitlin Simmons, both 14, are parishioners at St. Pius X Church in Conyers. It was their fourth time attending the congress, and both agreed that their purpose for attending was to learn more about Christ. Abigail said, “I want to deepen my faith.” Caitlin added, “It is a good way to learn more about Christ.”
Jeremy Moh, 17, Our Lady of Mercy High School, Fairburn, shown with friend Mikki Valdez.
“It is my first time here. I think people are here to get deeper with their faith, get closer to God, and to see everything.”
