To the Editor:

Lorraine Murray’s article in the latest Georgia Bulletin (May 28, “Coming Home To Heaven”), the one about coming home, was lovely.

In our family, we had never used the expression “going home” for dying and going to heaven. When my mother was dying of cancer and sleeping or confused most of the time, she said to me one morning, “I’m going home.”

I said, “Mom, you are home.”

She said, “No. You know what I mean – I’m going home.”

It was so beautiful because she was so fragile at the time and it was such a comfort to both of us. You reminded me of that sweet moment. I’m going to save that article.

Thank you for putting those thoughts on paper.
