To the Editor:
Thank you for the article written by Andrew Nelson, “Art Chosen To Inspire Prayer At New St. Lawrence Church,” in the Nov. 13 Georgia Bulletin. As I read the article about the beautiful new sanctuary and building that was built with the leadership of Father Al Jowdy with the collaboration of the parish community, I could not help but think back about 20 years ago when I was a teenager and parishioner at St. Thomas Aquinas in Alpharetta. Father Al was our pastor, and when the church continued to grow, he spearheaded the construction of a new rectory and parking lot. I still remember donating $15 to the effort and receiving a handwritten thank-you note from Father Al.
As I travel around the southeastern United States and visit Catholic communities, I am so grateful for the treasure that we have in our priests serving the Archdiocese of Atlanta. We are so blessed to have wonderful pastoral and administratively gifted priests. Thank you, Father Al, and all of the wonderful dedicated priests in the archdiocese. This Thanksgiving I am especially grateful for all of you.
