BT Girls Runner-Up In State Tennis Finals

JONESBORO—The girls tennis team for Blessed Trinity High School, Roswell, was unable to defend its 2007 state title as they lost to Region 5AAA champions Riverwood High School, Atlanta, 3-2 in the state tennis finals at Clayton County International Park.
The number one singles player, sophomore Elizabeth Sims, played a four-hour, three-set match and lost her first of the season 6-4, 5-7 (7-1 tie break), 5-7. Number two singles player, senior Amanda Barnes, lost her match 2-6,1-6. Number three singles player, senior Loren Ramsey, won her match 6-3, 6-1. The number one doubles team of juniors Brooke Pridemore and Clare Morgan won their match 6-0, 5-7, 6-2, but the number two doubles team of Emma Parker and Natalie Allard lost their match 5-7, 3-6. Junior doubles players Narrie Green and Lauen Bergeson round out the team’s roster, but they did not see action in the state finals.
The Blessed Trinity High School number one singles player, sophomore Elizabeth Sims, had not lost a match this season until she was defeated by Riverwood High School’s Jordan Batey in the state finals at Clayton County International Park, May 10.
