CUMMING—The varsity boys of Pinecrest Academy are a perfect 2-0 for the month of April after defeating Westminster Christian Academy on the road 3-2, April 1 and North Cobb Christian School at home 2-1, April 3.

Against a Westminster Christian team with an aggressive offense, the Pinecrest defense stepped up to the task and freshman goalie Eddie Maalouf provided a number of great saves. After trailing by a goal, senior David Weigel tied the score at 2-2 in the second half. Then sophomore Kevin Metz scored the winning goal on an assist from junior Zach Carlisle.

The win over North Cobb Christian School was big because North Cobb entered the game undefeated and ranked number one. Both teams were scoreless at halftime. North Cobb struck first with a goal late in the second half of regulation. Sophomore Nick Domenge tied the score on a penalty kick, and the game played out over two overtimes. During the final two minutes of the second overtime, it was the foot of Pinecrest junior Ben McCabe that sent the ball sailing just under the goal crossbar and into the back of the net for the game-winning goal.

Pinecrest improves to 4-0-1 on the season. They are idle until April 17 when they take on Young Americans Christian School of Conyers.
