Holy Cross Stages ‘Beauty And The Beast’ For Charity

Published: April 3, 2008

ATLANTA—An enchanted castle filled with talking, singing and dancing knives, forks, napkins and feather dusters—play enthusiasts will find that and a bossy but caring teapot (and her youngster, Chip), a French candelabra (Lumiere) with an eye for the ladies, a manic mantle clock (Cogsworth) that’s been wound just a little too tight, a time-sensitive rose, and more. All are part of the annual drama production, “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast,” from Holy Cross Church, which opens April 18 at the north Atlanta parish. Sixty enthusiastic and talented actors, singers and dancers will help make the transition from a tornado-tormented early spring into a warm and sunny fantasy.

This dazzling show is the parish’s 24th annual fundraiser to feed the needy of the area. Proceeds support the work of Friends of St. Martin de Porres at Holy Cross.

A dinner show will be held on Friday, April 18, at 7 p.m. for $30 per person, and a dinner buffet show on Saturday, April 19, at 7 p.m. for $20 per person. Tickets for both dinner shows can only be purchased in advance from Mike Hardin at (770) 939-3501, ext. 231.

The general admission shows are Sunday, April 20, at 4 p.m.; Friday, April 25, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, April 26, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, April 27, at 4 p.m. Cost for adults is $12 and for children 12 and under is $6.

The general admission tickets will be sold after weekend Masses in the lobby at Holy Cross. Tickets will also be available from the parish office on Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at the door, 30 minutes before curtain time, as available.

Holy Cross Church is located at 3773 Chamblee Tucker Road, Atlanta.
