Published: March 13, 2008
ATLANTA—Holy Spirit Preparatory will feature Frank Hanna III, chief executive officer of HBR Capital, Ltd., as part of the school’s ongoing lecture series on Thursday, March 27. Hanna will discuss “Preserving our Christian Heritage: The Acquisition and Preservation of the Bodmer Papyrus.” The lecture begins promptly at 7:30 p.m. in the liberal arts building on the upper school campus. Refreshments are served at 7 p.m.
For those who read the Gospels or pray the Lord’s Prayer and have wondered about the authenticity of the words, this lecture will prove enlightening. Hanna will describe how the acquisition of the Bodmer Papyrus, which is dated between the years 175 and 255, helps to confirm the accuracy of the fourth-century version of the Bible and demonstrates the historical reality of Scripture. He will also discuss how the Bodmer Papyrus was obtained, preserved and finally presented to Pope Benedict XVI and how the text confirms Christian faith in the Scriptures.
Hanna earned his undergraduate degree in finance from the University of Georgia, Athens, and graduated cum laude from the university’s law school. As an investor in Atlanta, Hanna has started and backed a number of successful businesses during his investment career. Prior to his investment career, he was a corporate attorney with Troutman Sanders of Atlanta. He recently served as the co-chairman for the President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans, where he oversaw the production of and delivery of its report to the President entitled, “From Risk to Opportunity.” He has been instrumental in the foundation of three new Catholic schools in Atlanta, serving on the boards of each, one of which serves underprivileged Hispanic immigrants. Hanna is a frequent speaker to various groups regarding issues of faith as they pertain to the businessman. He has often spoken on philanthropy and what he feels are new paradigms developing in this area. He has also spoken to Catholic leaders at conferences at the Vatican, and in meetings with the leadership of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Hanna was the recipient of the 2007 William E. Simon Prize for Philanthropic Leadership.
Holy Spirit Preparatory is located at 4449 Northside Drive near the intersection with Mt. Paran Road.
