Catholic High School Wrestlers Compete In Area, State Tournaments

DULUTH—Catholic school wrestlers competed in their area tournaments Feb. 16, and many qualified to go on and compete in the state tournament at the Gwinnett Center Arena, Duluth, Feb. 21-23. Listed below are the area and state results.
AREA TOURNAMENT
Our Lady of Mercy High School, Fairburn, 1-A

Patrick Silloway, 285 lbs. weight class
Fifth Place
Dennis Nolte, 145 lbs. weight class
Ford and Silloway qualified for the state, and Nolte went as an alternate.
Blessed Trinity High School, Roswell, 5-AAA

Chad Grenda, 130 1bs. weight class
Shane Fadem, 135 1bs. weight class

Of the 10 wrestlers who qualified for the state tournament, juniors Sam Lagod (145 lbs.) and Jeff Ducote (189 lbs.), and sophomore Phillip Wood (171 lbs.) reached the final day of wrestling, but none of them placed in the top six or medal round.
